Steve Jackson Forums: Still Apeshit

A long long time ago, I had written a blog entry about the Steve Jackson Games Forums where I rebutted the idea that the SJG forums were predominantly right wing; they’re certainly more right-wing than your typical gamer forum, but their predominant ideological position, I had concluded, was in fact Batshit Crazy.

Well, what with theRPGsite and the blog and a bunch of other things, I haven’t been going onto the SJG forums that much lately, hardly at all in the last few months really. But a recent tip alerted me to the fact that without a doubt, the SJG forums are still the most batshit crazy of all the major gaming forums on the web.

Witness this recent thread, where the nutbars on the SJG forums talk about how cool it would be if they brought back duels. Yes, that’s right, fucking duels, as in guys with guns at ten paces, or sword and main gauche to the first blood, that kind of shit.

I mean, what kind of social retard do you have to be in order to think this is a really cool idea? Why do I imagine that most of the participants of that thread are 300lb. virgins living in their parents’ basement at 40? Not to mention the level of utter ass-brained thinking that is evinced in the thread, such classic bullshit like “general speaking, savages are more polite than civilized men, because civilized men don’t have to worry about having their skull split for being impolite”. Oh yeah, brilliant insight there, retard. You have proven that you read Conan at some point, and that you are at least as fucked up in the head as Robert E. Howard was; and that dude was certifiably insane… and I’m not even sure he believed that shit.

If you’ve spent any amount of time living in an “uncivilized” area, be it the bad parts of the third world, or the bad parts of the inner city in any major urban center in the western world, you’d know how much utter nonsense that is. Uncivilized people aren’t more noble, and they sure as fuck aren’t more “polite”; they just end up killing each other for ridiculously stupid reasons at young ages.

Then we have the braniac referring to government as a “Leviathan” and complaining that in this day and age people would be “too likely to sue”. I mean, PLEASE, motherfucker, this shit would be scary if it wasn’t for the extremely high likelihood that most of the people involved in this conversation are your classic internet-only-badass who’d start to cry if you so much as pushed them too hard, and have decided to console themselves for their pathetic life of insignificance by talking big about guns and swordfighting on a roleplaying forum.

Then of course to top it off we have the brilliant conclusion by most of these fucktards that in this day and age duelling probably wouldn’t work, not because its a monumentally stupid throwback, but because most people today “don’t have enough of a sense of honor” to allow the end of a duel to settle the matter being contested. Holy fuck, not only do they demonstrate to be retards, they also demonstrate to be retards with a pathetically romanticized sense of history! I mean sweet jesus on a stick, these fuckers actually believe that in the good old golden age people would swing around with swords for a bit and then be friends again, rather than the reality, which was that duelling caused long-running fueds and bloodbaths that this was the principal reason that even in the more bloody ages past duelling was mostly an outlawed activity in any stable government.

Well shit, anyways, its kind of nice to know that a few things in this world are consistent. The sun will always rise in the east, the moon will circle the earth in its cycle, and the Steve Jackson Games Forums will always be a ready source of loony dementia.
