Yesterday I was talking to my mother about the possibility of going back to school to get a Masters degree. She had suggested it a few months back before I had finished my bachelors degree. The idea of returning to school is down-right sickening to a 7 year college student, but its becoming pretty damn clear that that’s what a communications mayor has to do in order to survive this post-apocalyptic economy of ours. The news of the layoffs at Clear Channel drove this point home for me. Clear Channel layed off 9% ( that’s 2,000 people) of their work force early this week. That’s 2,000 people with way more experience than I applying to he same jobs I would have applied. I don’t delude myself, those 2,000 people are more qualified to do those jobs than I am. Fuck that media shit. I’ve been thinking about going for a masters in History. A field that has always fascinated me, but I’ve never considered as more than a fleeting fancy. I need to look into this a bit more. Both my mother and Katie seem to like the idea. That’s all the confirmation I need.
